Using Twitter to Recruit

Last week, we discussed how you can start using LinkedIn for your recruiting efforts . This week, it’s all about using Twitter to recruit. With all of the social networks, it can become a little tedious to monitor them and keep up with everything. Using Twitter for recruiting doesn’t have to be quite as time consuming as some of the other networks, but that’s not to say you should be passive. Here are a few ways you can start using Twitter to find your next hire:

Expose Your Brand

Twitter is a great place for you to share updates about your company and your culture. By letting your followers and potential job applicants know what it’s like working at your company, you can attract the right fit. By exposing your brand and what your company is all about, you can gain followers’ interests and attract passive job seekers.

Use Hashtags

When you tweet about a new job opening, consider using hashtags that make it easy for potential applicants to find. Things like industry, role, and location make it extremely easy for applicants to find you and your job posting.

Use Your Employees

Exposure is one of the big things you want when using Twitter for recruiting. The more people who see your tweet, the better results you’ll have. Don’t be afraid to ask your existing employees to retweet or send out their own tweets about the position you are trying to fill.

Research Potential

Just like using hashtags for potential applicants to find you, you can search hash tags to find potential employees. Twitter is a great way to get first impressions. Depending on the role you are hiring for, you should look to see if the person is tweeting a mix of personal and professional content.

Recruiting with Twitter is all about connecting. If someone asks a question about a job opening, be sure you respond to them. Be real and be personal when you tweet and you’ll get a lot further.
